Coldberry lead mine is a post-medieval extractive site located in Durham, featuring evidence of lead mining operations and associated landscape features known as hushes. The hushes, which are characteristic erosional gullies created by the controlled release of water to expose ore-bearing rock, demonstrate the hydraulic mining techniques employed during the early modern period of lead extraction in the northern Pennines. The site represents the industrial archaeology of lead mining, a significant economic activity in the region from the sixteenth century onwards, with the physical remains indicating the scale and methods of mineral extraction during this period. The monument survives as an important testament to the history of metal mining and landscape modification in northern England.
