Willington is a scheduled ancient monument in Derbyshire comprising multiple phases of prehistoric and Romano-British activity distributed east of the village either side of the A5132 road. The site contains Neolithic features including a cursus monument and a small henge, alongside round barrows of Neolithic and Early Bronze Age date that represent burial activity across several centuries. Later occupation is evidenced by Iron Age and Romano-British enclosures, settlements and field systems that reflect the intensification of agricultural land use during the late prehistoric and Romano-British periods. The monument's archaeological significance lies in its demonstration of long-term continuity of human activity and landscape use from the Neolithic through to the Romano-British period across what became a productive area of the Derbyshire Derwent valley.
