Dowhill Castle is a 16th-century fortified stronghold located in Kinross-shire, Scotland. The structure represents a typical example of late medieval Scottish defensive architecture, built during a period when such fortifications served both military and domestic purposes for local landholding families. The castle's remains reflect the transitional phase of Scottish castle design as larger, more sophisticated baronial residences began to supersede purely military considerations in the later Renaissance period.
