Drumboy fort is a Early Christian rath and souterrain located in the Newry and Mourne district of Northern Ireland. The site comprises a counterscarp rath, a distinctive earthwork defence characteristic of Early Christian settlement in Ireland, with evidence of an associated souterrain, an underground stone-built passage typical of Iron Age and Early Christian domestic sites. The monument dates to the Early Christian period, when such fortified farmsteads served as the residences of local élites and their households. The physical remains include the earthwork rampart defining the rath enclosure and traces of the subterranean structure, which would have functioned as storage, refuge, or domestic space within the settlement.
