Duddon Bridge Ironworks and associated leats is a complex of industrial heritage remains located near Duddon Bridge in Cumberland, representing the exploitation of water power resources in the Lake District during the post-medieval period. The ironworks utilised a system of leats, or artificial water channels, to direct water from the River Duddon to drive machinery essential for iron production. Approximately 370 metres north-west of Duddon Bridge stands Duddon Bridge Bobbin Mill and its associated leats, which similarly demonstrates the widespread adoption of water-powered manufacturing in the region during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Both installations reflect the industrial development of the locality during the period when water mills and works proliferated throughout the valleys of Cumbria, exploiting the reliable supply of flowing water to support metalworking and textile-related production.
