Overview

History & significance

Dun Telve is a broch situated in Glenelg, Inverness-shire, Scotland, dating to the Iron Age. This circular stone-built fortified tower survives to a considerable height, retaining much of its characteristic double-walled construction, which is the defining architectural feature of Scottish brochs. Located near its companion structure Dun Troddan, also a broch of similar age, Dun Telve represents an important example of Iron Age defensive architecture in the Scottish Highlands, likely constructed within the later centuries before the Roman period. The broch's robust stone walls and internal chambers demonstrate the sophisticated building techniques employed by Iron Age communities in northern Britain.
