Dungiven Castle is a post-medieval fortification located in Limavady, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The surviving structure comprises substantial portions of defensive walls that form part of a larger fortified complex, dating to the early modern period when such structures were constructed or refortified during the Tudor and Stuart era. The castle represents the type of stronghold maintained by local Ulster gentry and plantation settlers during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The remains contribute to the archaeological and architectural record of early modern settlement patterns and defensive architecture in the north of Ireland.
