East Bennan is a Neolithic long cairn located on the Isle of Bute in Scotland, dating to the earlier Neolithic period. The monument consists of a substantial earthen and stone mound characteristic of long cairn construction, a burial form typical of Neolithic communities in Britain and Ireland from approximately 4000 to 3000 BC. Long cairns such as East Bennan served as communal burial monuments and are considered among the earliest monumental structures built by Britain's first farming populations.
