Eilean Chalium Chille is a monastery on an island in Inverness-shire, Scotland, dedicated to Saint Columba. The site dates to the early medieval period and represents an important example of the monastic settlements established in the Highlands during the spread of Christianity in Scotland. The monastery occupied a small island location, a setting typical of many Scottish Celtic monastic foundations which often chose isolated or semi-isolated positions. As with many early medieval monastic sites in the region, the physical remains are sparse, reflecting both the passage of time and the modest construction methods employed in these remote communities.
