Lime works, An Sàilean, Lismore is a post-medieval industrial site located on the Isle of Lismore in Argyllshire, Scotland. The lime kiln and associated works represent commercial lime production activity that developed from the eighteenth century onwards, when local limestone deposits were exploited to produce lime for agricultural improvement and building purposes across the Hebrides and mainland Scotland. The site's physical remains comprise the kiln structure and evidence of lime-burning operations typical of small-scale coastal industrial production in the Scottish Highlands. Such works were economically significant to island and rural communities, providing both local employment and a valuable export commodity for improving soil fertility and construction throughout the region during the post-medieval period.
