Garvock is a post-medieval farmstead situated 825 metres south-east of the village of Garvock in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The settlement occupies land underlain by Dinantian extrusive rocks of the Mississippian period, comprising mafic lavas and tuffs that form the underlying bedrock of this locality. This volcanic geology, whilst ancient, would have had no bearing on the choice of site during the post-medieval period when the farmstead was established.
The farmstead represents settlement and agricultural activity during the sixteenth century onwards, a period of relative stability in rural Renfrewshire that enabled the establishment of permanent farm structures. Such settlements typically comprised a dwelling house and associated agricultural buildings arranged around a working farmyard. The site's location reflects practical considerations of water access, drainage, and proximity to cultivable land rather than any earlier historical significance.
Today the farmstead remains a record of rural post-medieval life in southwest Scotland.
