Gryme's Dyke at Stanway Green is a linear earthwork forming part of the Iron Age defences associated with Camulodunum, the major oppidum located near present-day Colchester in Essex. The dyke consists of a substantial ditch and bank system that served to demarcate and protect the territorial boundaries of this significant Late Iron Age settlement during the first century before the Roman conquest. Following the Roman invasion of Britain in 43 AD, Camulodunum continued as an important centre under Roman administration, and Gryme's Dyke remained a notable topographical feature within the landscape of the Romano-British town. The earthwork survives as a visible landscape monument and represents the engineering efforts of Iron Age communities in establishing controlled access to one of Britain's most significant pre-Roman settlements.
