Hut Circle Settlement below Foel Isaf, Bugeilyn is a prehistoric settlement comprising stone-built dwellings sited on the slopes below Foel Isaf in Wales. The settlement remains are visible as a cluster of hut circles, which represent the foundations and walls of roundhouses built directly onto bedrock of Ashgill mudstone, siltstone and sandstone. This solid geological base would have provided stable ground for construction and good drainage across the settlement. The Ashgill rocks, formed in the Ordovician period over 440 million years ago, outcrop across much of this upland terrain, creating a landscape naturally suited to prehistoric settlement and farming.
The settlement's location on sloping ground below the summit of Foel Isaf reflects the practical positioning typical of Iron Age and Bronze Age communities, balancing access to upland pasture with shelter from exposure.
