Inverlochy Castle is a medieval fortress located near Fort William in Inverness-shire, Scotland, built in the thirteenth century as a stronghold of the Comyn family. The castle comprises a distinctive quadrilateral enclosure with four corner towers, constructed of rubble stone, representing a characteristic design of the period. Its strategic position commanding the mouth of the River Lochy made it an important stronghold in the Scottish Highlands, and it subsequently came under the control of successive regional powers. The castle saw significant military action during the Wars of Scottish Independence and later conflicts, cementing its role as a key defensive structure in the region until its eventual abandonment.
