Isfield pound is a medieval animal pound located in East Sussex, England. The structure consists of a roughly circular or oval enclosure bounded by a substantial bank and ditch, typical of pounds constructed to contain strayed livestock. Dating to the medieval period, the pound served a practical administrative function within the manorial system, used for impounding cattle and other animals that had wandered from their owners' land. The site remains visible as an earthwork monument and represents an important aspect of medieval rural management and the enforcement of manorial authority over agricultural land.
