Lincluden College is a medieval motte and precinct situated in Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, comprising an earthwork fortification with an associated collegiate foundation. The motte itself represents a form of Norman defensive architecture characteristic of the twelfth century, whilst the collegiate establishment was founded later in the medieval period to serve both religious and administrative functions. The site occupies a strategically significant location within the region and reflects the layering of military and ecclesiastical authority that characterised medieval Scottish settlement patterns.
