Ceann Mara crannog is an Iron Age to Medieval settlement site located in Argyllshire, Scotland, situated approximately 150 metres south-west of Loch Awe. The site represents a crannog, an artificial or semi-natural island dwelling characteristic of Scottish and Irish lake settlements, which provided defensible domestic spaces and were particularly favoured during the Iron Age and early Medieval periods. The extended chronological range from Iron Age through to Medieval times suggests successive phases of occupation or reuse across more than a millennium. The crannog's location within Loch Awe, one of Scotland's largest freshwater lochs, would have afforded access to aquatic resources and strategic advantages typical of such lacustrine settlements.
