Lochend is a Neolithic chambered cairn located approximately 450 metres north-west of Stronsay in Orkney, Scotland. The monument represents the funerary architecture of the Neolithic period, when such elaborately constructed tombs served as communal burial places for the deceased. The cairn's design, typical of Orkney's chambered cairn tradition, reflects the sophisticated engineering and social organisation of its builders during the third millennium before Christ. This site forms part of the significant concentration of Neolithic monuments found throughout the Orkney Islands, which rank amongst the most important prehistoric archaeological sites in northern Britain.
