Lochrinnie Mote is a medieval motte located approximately 250 metres west-northwest of Craigmuie Lodge in Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland. The monument consists of an earthwork mound characteristic of motte-and-bailey fortifications, a defensive structure type prevalent in Scotland during the medieval period, particularly associated with Anglo-Norman settlement and lordship in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The site exemplifies the widespread adoption of motte construction in southwest Scotland as a means of establishing territorial control and military presence during the early medieval era. Like many mottes in the region, Lochrinnie Mote represents the integration of Norman defensive practices into the Scottish landscape.
