Lynchets 850m west of Ridgeway Farm is a scheduled ancient monument comprising a series of agricultural terraces located in Wiltshire. The lynchets represent evidence of medieval or later strip cultivation, formed by repeated ploughing along hillsides which caused soil accumulation to create distinctive stepped earthworks. The terraces are characteristic of the open field farming systems practised across much of southern England during the medieval period and potentially into the early post-medieval era. The survival of such earthworks provides important archaeological evidence for understanding historical land management practices and settlement patterns in the Wiltshire landscape.
