Macharioch Motte is a medieval motte-and-bailey earthwork located approximately 800 metres west of Macharioch in Argyllshire, Scotland. The monument comprises a substantial mound typical of Norman and early medieval fortifications, dating to the 12th or 13th century, a period when such defensive structures were widely established throughout western Scotland. The site represents an important example of the feudal settlement pattern introduced to the region during the medieval period, though detailed historical documentation regarding its specific garrison or administrative function remains limited.
