West Ringstead is a medieval settlement located in Dorset, England. The site comprises the earthwork remains of a nucleated village, with evidence of former property boundaries, hollow ways, and domestic enclosures that reflect the layout of a planned or organically developed medieval community. Archaeological and topographical survey has identified the characteristic features of medieval occupation, including tofts and crofts typical of settlements from the twelfth to sixteenth centuries. The abandoned settlement represents one of the numerous examples of medieval rural desertion documented across southern England, preserving in its earthwork form the physical structure of medieval village life.
