The site comprises an enclosed area defined by boundary features typical of post-medieval agricultural improvement, reflecting the period of landscape reorganisation and formalised field systems that characterised rural Scotland from the 16th century onwards. The enclosure represents the material evidence of farming practices and land management strategies employed during the early modern period in this region of the Scottish Lowlands.
