History & significance

Woodhall Farm enclosure is a post-medieval field system located approximately 600 metres east of Woodhall Farm in East Lothian, Scotland. The enclosure comprises field boundaries and divisions typical of the agricultural reorganisation that characterised the post-medieval period in the Lothian region. Such enclosed landscapes reflect the intensification and rationalisation of farming practices that occurred from the sixteenth century onwards as landowners restructured their estates.
