Moated manorial site 200m north-west of East Field Copse is a medieval earthwork monument located in Berkshire. The site comprises a moated enclosure, a form of defensive or status-signalling fortification characteristic of manorial centres from the twelfth century onwards, with examples remaining in use through the medieval period and beyond. The moat, formed by water-filled ditches surrounding the manor house and its associated buildings, represents the physical remains of what was likely a significant local landholding and administrative centre. The survival of such earthwork features provides important archaeological evidence of medieval settlement patterns and the spatial organisation of manorial estates in southern England.
