Moated site at North Park Farm is a medieval defensive or manorial enclosure located in Yorkshire. The site comprises a substantial rectangular moat which originally surrounded a residential complex, a characteristic form of land management and domestic fortification common among English landowners from the 12th century onwards. Such moated sites served both practical purposes, providing water supply and a degree of protection, and symbolic functions denoting status and authority within the medieval landscape. The survival of the earthwork at North Park Farm represents an important example of medieval settlement archaeology in the Yorkshire region.
