Morayston is a post-medieval palisaded enclosure located approximately one kilometre south-west of Morayston in Inverness-shire, Scotland. The site is defined by a timber palisade, a defensive or demarcating structure characteristic of early modern period fortification practices in the Scottish Highlands. Such enclosures typically date from the sixteenth to seventeenth centuries and served purposes ranging from protection of livestock to defence of domestic settlement. The archaeological record of palisaded enclosures in this region provides evidence of settlement patterns and land use during a period of significant social and military change in the Highlands.
