Neath Abbey Ironworks is a post-medieval and modern industrial site located in Neath, Wales, representing an important phase in the development of iron production in south Wales during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The ironworks occupied a site adjacent to the ruins of Neath Abbey, exploiting the location's access to water power and established communications. The works produced pig iron and wrought iron, contributing significantly to the industrial transformation of the Neath Valley during the period of rapid expansion in Welsh iron manufacturing. The site preserves structural remains and archaeological evidence of furnaces and associated industrial infrastructure characteristic of this era of intensified metal production.
