North Gellan is a post-medieval settlement and field system located approximately 350 metres north of Gellan in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The site comprises the remains of a historic rural settlement with associated agricultural field divisions that reflect the land management practices of the post-medieval period. The field system demonstrates the organisation of arable and possibly pastoral land typical of early modern Scottish farming communities in the northeast. The settlement represents the pattern of dispersed rural habitation characteristic of Aberdeenshire during this era, before the significant agricultural reorganisation and consolidation that accompanied later improvement schemes.
