Offa's Dyke is a linear earthwork forming part of the extensive Anglo-Saxon frontier monument constructed during the reign of King Offa of Mercia in the late eighth century. This section of the dyke, extending approximately 1,960 metres from Yew Tree Farm to quarries north-east of Granner Wood in Radnorshire, comprises a substantial bank and ditch typical of the monument's construction across the Welsh borderlands. The earthwork served as a demarcation of territorial control and a boundary between the Mercian kingdom and Welsh polities, and this stretch represents one of the surviving sections where the dyke's physical form remains archaeologically significant. The monument is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument under the reference RD022 and continues to provide important evidence for understanding Anglo-Saxon frontier management and the political geography of early medieval Britain.
