The site dates to the early modern period and represents the type of organized rural landholding and habitation typical of lowland Scottish farming communities during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries. The physical remains include evidence of enclosed fields and settlement structures that reflect the agricultural practices and settlement patterns of the post-medieval period in this region of Angus.
