Portobello pottery kilns is a group of industrial ceramic production sites located on Harbour Road in Portobello, Midlothian, near Edinburgh. The kilns date from the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, representing the substantial pottery manufacturing industry that developed in this area during the post-industrial expansion of the region. The site comprises the remains of multiple kiln structures associated with commercial earthenware production, which supplied both local and wider Scottish markets. Portobello became a notable centre for pottery manufacture during the Georgian and Victorian periods, with these kilns forming part of the archaeological evidence for this important phase of Scottish industrial heritage.
