The Roman camp and road section south-east of Field Head Farm in Cumberland is a scheduled ancient monument preserving evidence of Roman military infrastructure dating to the first and second centuries AD. The camp represents one of the auxiliary installations established during Rome's occupation and consolidation of northern Britain, whilst the adjacent road section forms part of the wider network of military routes that connected Roman forts and settlements across the region. The survival of both features provides archaeological evidence for Roman strategic planning and engineering in the frontier zone of Roman Britain. The monument remains largely as an earthwork, with its defensive ditches and ramparts surviving as landscape features that continue to inform understanding of Roman garrison patterns in the north.
