Crab Farm Roman fort is a Roman military installation located in Dorset, dating to the early Roman period following the Claudian invasion of Britain in AD 43. The fort represents one of the auxiliary installations constructed to secure the newly conquered territory and facilitate the Roman advance westward into the southwest peninsula. The site preserves earthwork remains that indicate the characteristic playing-card layout typical of Roman forts, including traces of defensive ditches and the fort's internal organisation. Archaeological investigation and surface survey have contributed to understanding the fort's role within the broader network of Roman military establishments in southern Britain during the first century AD.
