The Roman period native settlement and associated field system and trackway on the north-east slope of Brands Hill is a scheduled ancient monument in Northumberland comprising the remains of a native British settlement dating to the Roman period. The site includes the physical traces of settlement structures alongside contemporary agricultural features, including field boundaries and a trackway, which together demonstrate the continuity of native land use and settlement patterns during the Roman occupation of Britain. The location on the slope of Brands Hill provided a defensible position whilst maintaining access to surrounding agricultural land. These remains are significant for understanding how native communities adapted to and coexisted with Roman presence in northern Britain during the first and second centuries AD.
