Rosedale East Mines calcining kilns and iron mines is a scheduled ancient monument comprising the remains of industrial ironworking infrastructure located in the moorland near Helmsley, North Yorkshire. The site dates to the nineteenth century, when the Rosedale ironstone field was actively exploited as part of the broader Victorian iron industry expansion in northern England. The calcining kilns, which survive as structural remains, were used to heat ironstone ore to remove impurities before smelting, whilst the associated mine workings represent the extraction phase of the iron production process. The monument reflects the industrial archaeology of this once-significant mining region and demonstrates the technical and logistical requirements of nineteenth-century iron ore processing in upland Yorkshire.
