Round Dounan is a Iron Age fort located near Dunragit House in Wigtownshire, south-western Scotland. The site consists of a circular or oval enclosure defined by defensive earthworks typical of Iron Age settlement patterns in the region. It represents an important example of prehistoric fortified settlement in south-western Scotland, dating to the pre-Roman Iron Age period when such enclosed settlements served as focal points for local communities. The monument preserves evidence of the settlement strategies and defensive concerns of Iron Age populations in what is now Dumfries and Galloway.
