Saltcoats Castle is a fortified residence of medieval origin located in East Lothian, Scotland. The castle and its associated dovecot represent the domestic and agricultural infrastructure of a landed estate from the medieval period onwards. The dovecot, a characteristic feature of substantial Scottish properties, would have provided a reliable source of fresh meat and fertiliser for the household. The site survives as an important example of the combined military and domestic architecture typical of Scottish baronial settlements.
