Scrabster Castle is a ruined castle located near Thurso in Caithness, northern Scotland. The castle dates from the medieval period, though the precise date of its construction remains uncertain. It occupies a defensive position overlooking the coast and would have served to control access to this strategically important area of the far north. The surviving remains consist of fragmentary stone structures, testament to centuries of exposure to the harsh maritime climate of the northern Scottish coast.
