The site comprises two concentric ramparts with intervening ditches that enclose an area of approximately four hectares on the summit of the chalk hill. Archaeological evidence and topographical analysis indicate occupation and defensive construction during the Iron Age, likely spanning the later prehistoric period. The hillfort represents a significant example of Iron Age settlement hierarchy and territorial control in the Thames Valley region.
