St Blane's Church, Monastery and The Cauldron, Bute is an early medieval monastic site located on the Isle of Bute in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The monastery is traditionally associated with Saint Blane, an early Christian missionary, and represents an important centre of Christian activity in the western Scottish islands from at least the medieval period onwards. The site comprises the remains of the church building itself, set within a circular enclosure characteristic of early ecclesiastical settlements, together with various archaeological features including The Cauldron, a large depressed circular earthwork of uncertain original purpose which may have been associated with the monastic complex. The standing church structure dates substantially from the medieval period, though the site likely preserves evidence of earlier Christian occupation and the monument remains significant for understanding the development of Christian monasticism in the Hebridean region during the early medieval and later periods.
