St Olave's Priory is a Benedictine foundation located at Olave in Suffolk, established in the eleventh century as a cell dependent upon the abbey of Bury St Edmunds. The priory occupied a modest site in the rural landscape of central Suffolk and appears to have remained a small, relatively obscure monastic community throughout the medieval period. The surviving physical remains are fragmentary, comprising stone foundations and rubble that attest to modest conventional buildings typical of a dependent priory rather than a major monastic establishment. Like other religious houses in Suffolk, St Olave's was dissolved at the Reformation in the sixteenth century, after which the site fell into decline and the buildings were progressively dismantled or exploited for reusable stone.
