Strabane Stone Circle, Cairns and Alignments is a Bronze Age ceremonial landscape situated on bedrock of Argyll Group psammite, semipelite and pelite formed during the Neoproterozoic. The monument comprises a stone circle at its centre, flanked by two cairns and two linear stone alignments, all preserving evidence of a pre-bog settlement pattern now rare in this region. The site is recorded under Historic Environment Division reference 14079 and represents a significant Bronze Age ritual focus in the Strabane area, where later peat accumulation has sealed and protected these prehistoric monuments beneath blanket bog.
The stone circle and associated features reflect Bronze Age practices of ceremonial monument construction across northern Britain and Ireland. Such complexes typically served ceremonial and possibly funerary functions, with cairns often marking significant burials or territorial markers within the landscape. The two alignments may have functioned as processional ways or sight-lines to astronomical events, common elements in Bronze Age ritual design.
