Tarkirra Fort is an Iron Age fortified settlement located in Kirkcudbrightshire, south-western Scotland. The fort comprises a univallate defensive structure characteristic of Iron Age hillforts of the southern Scottish lowlands, with a single rampart enclosing the summit of its hilltop location. Dating to the Iron Age period, the site represents the defensive and settlement strategies employed by Iron Age communities in this region. The fort's physical remains, including its earthwork defences, provide evidence of the fortified settlement patterns that characterised Iron Age society in south-western Scotland during the first millennium before the Common Era.
