The Bastard is an Iron Age dun situated in Argyllshire, Scotland. The monument consists of a stone-built fortified enclosure typical of the Iron Age period in western Scotland, when such defensive structures served as residences for local élites and community strongholds. The dun's physical remains reflect the construction methods and settlement patterns characteristic of the first millennium before the Common Era in this region. As with many comparable duns in Argyllshire, the site represents an important phase of prehistoric settlement and social organisation in the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
