The Grange moated site, Hose is a medieval moated homestead situated in the parish of Hose, Leicestershire. The site consists of a substantial rectangular moat enclosing an area that once contained domestic and agricultural buildings, typical of the defended or status-marked residential sites of medieval gentry or substantial farmers. Dating to the medieval period, the moated enclosure represents the earthwork remains of a settlement pattern common to the Midlands during the twelfth to sixteenth centuries. The monument survives as an important archaeological record of medieval rural settlement hierarchy and land management in Leicestershire.
