The Grange moated site, Hose is a medieval moated enclosure located in Leicestershire. The site consists of a substantial moat surrounding a raised platform, a characteristic defensive and prestigious feature of high-status medieval residences dating from the twelfth to sixteenth centuries. The moat would originally have enclosed a timber or stone dwelling and associated domestic buildings, indicating the site's occupation by a person or family of considerable local importance. The Grange represents a significant example of medieval settlement archaeology in the East Midlands and survives as an earthwork monument preserving evidence of medieval manorial occupation and landscape use.
