Trivallate rath is a Iron Age or early medieval ringfort located in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The monument consists of a univallate earthwork with a conjoined circular enclosure, the latter designated as site 051, creating a distinctive dual-chambered defensive arrangement characteristic of certain Irish raths. The earthwork comprises raised banks and external ditches that define the enclosed settlement space, typical of fortified farmsteads of the pre-Norman period. Such sites served as the defended domestic and pastoral centres of the native Irish elite and farming families throughout the Iron Age and early medieval period.
