Trundale Gill is a prehistoric and later settlement complex located in Westmorland, England, comprising a hut circle settlement with associated field systems and cairnwork dating primarily to the Bronze Age and Iron Age periods. The site includes a round cairn, a hut circle, three shielings representing later pastoral use, and regular aggregate field boundaries that demonstrate sustained land management across multiple chronological phases. The arrangement of these features indicates long-term occupation and exploitation of the upland landscape, with the hut circles and cairn representing Bronze Age activity whilst the shielings reflect medieval and post-medieval sheepherding practices. The survival of both prehistoric and later structures in situ provides archaeological evidence of continuity and adaptation in upland settlement patterns across more than two millennia.
