Tupholme Abbey is a Premonstratensian abbey founded in the twelfth century in Lincolnshire. The site, established by the Premonstratensian order of canons regular, represents an important example of monastic settlement in the East Midlands before its dissolution during the sixteenth century Dissolution of the Monasteries. Substantial ruins of the abbey buildings survive as earthworks and masonry, including elements of the cloister ranges and claustral structures typical of Premonstratensian communities. Post-medieval occupation of the site led to the construction of domestic houses and the development of formal gardens, which have left their own archaeological traces within the wider monument complex. The site remains a nationally protected scheduled monument, preserving evidence of both its monastic and later residential phases.
