Twmpan Castle Mound is a motte forming part of the medieval defensive landscape of Breconshire in south Wales. The earthwork consists of a prominent mounded structure typical of Norman motte-and-bailey fortifications, dating to the medieval period following the Norman conquest and consolidation of Welsh territories. Such mottes served as focal points for Norman military control and settlement in the region, commanding the local landscape from their elevated positions.
